ISS OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED AUGUST 23RD
The ISS Office will be closed on Friday, August 23rd. The entire ISS staff will be attending International SOAR on that day. Normal office hours (Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm) will resume on Monday, August 26th.

ISS OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED & NO OPT WORKSHOP ON SEPTEMBER 2ND
The ISS Office will be closed and no OPT workshop will be held on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day, a US federal holiday. Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 3rd.

FALL SEMESTER WALK-IN HOURS START SEPTEMBER 3RD
Fall semester walk-in advising hours (Monday through Friday from 11 am to 3 pm) will resume on Tuesday, September 3rd.

TRAVEL UPDATES
I-94 Automated System (no more paper I-94 cards!)  SEVIS checks at Customs!
The United States government offices including the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and the Department of State have issued some changes to travel and entry procedures.  PLEASE read ISS updates on these changes at this link: http://iss.wisc.edu/traveldocument.html. TRIP TO HENRY VILAS ZOO
Saturday, August 10, 1:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Madison, WI
Like lions, tigers, and bears? Then come explore the Henry Vilas Zoo with the Greater University Tutorial Service (GUTS) and ISS! Meet up outside the Student Activity Center, 333 Campus Mall at 1:45 p.m. Come prepared with your University bus pass or bring four dollars for transportation. Enjoy a fun, relaxed afternoon near campus with the animals… an event not to miss!

Saturday, August 31, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Picnic Point (Firepits #4 & #5) Madison, WI
Explore the beautiful Picnic Point with Greater University Tutorial Service (GUTS) and ISS. Delicious s ’mores, a favorite American sweet treat, and a campfire will be provided. If you haven’t had a chance to explore the Lakeshore Path, this will be a great opportunity. Meet-up at the entrance to Picnic Point, and GUTS will have people stationed with flashlights to show you the way to the campfire. This is a great outdoor opportunity.

MOVIE NIGHT AT CAMP RANDALL
Thursday, August 15th – Doors open at 6:30 pm, Movie Starts at 7:15 pm
Join UW Athletics for the first-ever “Movie Night at Camp Randall.” This free event will allow fans to watch a movie on the brand new giant HD video board while sitting on the field or in the stands. For more information about this exciting new event, click here.

UW-MADISON RECREATIONAL SPORTS
As a student, you are already a member of the Division of Recreational Sports and have access to the recreational facilities on campus when you bring your Wiscard. Stay healthy and meet new friends by getting involved in the group fitness classes (try them for FREE September 3-15), Intramural Sports (sign up as a team or by yourself on IMLeagues.com), swim lessons (available to all skill levels), and more. Discussion Group: Lubar Exchanges on Religion in America
Seven Sundays during the fall semester, 6:00-7:00 pm
Union South: see the "Today in the Union (TITU)" Listings For Room

This free discussion group, specifically for international students, gives you a space to learn about the significance of religion in American culture. Each meeting will be an interfaith conversation (all religions welcome, and those with no religious practice) on a selected topic, such as "religion in American media and pop culture", plus guest speakers. TASTE OF MADISON 2013

All around Capitol Square Madison, WI
The Taste of Madison is a celebration of food, entertainment, and fun! For the past 30 years, Madison's finest in eats and entertainment, families and friends gather in the Capitol Square for this free festival. This year, Taste of Madison features 80 restaurants and over 200 menu items, 20 beverage stands, 3 stages, and over 35 live musical performances. DANE COUNTY FARMERS’ MARKET
Every Saturday until November 9, 6:00am-2:00pm, Capitol Square
The outdoor Dane County Farmers’ Market (DCFM) is in full swing for 2013!  DCFM on the Square is a tradition in Madison, Wisconsin. You’ll find the season’s best bounty of vegetables, flowers, and specialty products from approximately 300 vendors throughout the year. About 150 vendors attend every Saturday.

Community member is seeking assistance of a female student or community member who is fluent in both Thai and English to help with the translation of a book as well as reading passages of the book to a family member at Covenant Oaks Memory Care at Oakwood Village. Transportation may be provided to Oakwood Village.
